2:00-3:30 p.m.	Welcome and Opening Plenary Preparing for the Future: Anticipating Impact and Integration of AI in Higher Education This session brings together two visionary leaders shaping the future of AI in higher education and academic nursing. Dr. Michael J. Jabbour, Microsoft’s AI Innovation Officer, will illuminate new models of human–AI collaboration that elevate teaching, learning, and organizational agility. Drawing on experience leading transformation across major New York City agencies, he offers a grounded and human-centered approach to implementing AI at scale. He is joined by Brian Havey, MBA, Microsoft’s prominent enterprise strategy expert with deep experience guiding institutions through technology enabled modernization. Together, they will translate complex technological shifts into practical, financially sound strategies for academic leaders. Deans will leave inspired, informed, and equipped with frameworks to lead AI-driven innovation while preserving human purpose and academic excellence.

4:00-5:00 p.m.	Geraldine “Polly” Bednash Lectureship Award Team Training: Essential Interprofessional Skills in our Complex Care Environment Teams that train together improve care outcomes, systems efficiency, and the patient care experience. Complex, high-acuity care requires coordinated roles, shared mental models, and closed-loop communication to reduce errors and improve safety. Interprofessional education builds competencies across professions (situational awareness, SBAR, huddles, debriefs), improving reliability in complex systems. It aligns care with equity goals by standardizing collaboration, mitigating bias, and engaging patients/families as team members. Dr. Terry Fulmer will address the essential nature of team training and describe how the Josiah Macy Jr Foundation, under Dr. Holly Humphrey's leadership, advanced this mission as a champion of interprofessional education and patient-centered care.

Using this service, schools are able streamline their recruitment operations, gain access to powerful enrollment management software, expand their customer service capacity, and reach a national applicant pool. Learn why nearly 300 colleges of nursing used NursingCAS during the last enrollment cycle to process more than 115,000 nursing school applications. This session will explain how ANCC supports APRN faculty and students, highlight key resources for education and professional growth, review the ANCC APRN application process, and break down aggregate data reports. The session will also explore leadership initiatives that advance APRN practice, the mission of storytelling and opportunities to share your story, and ways APRNs and APRN students can stay connected and engaged with ANCC.

The session emphasizes peer exchange and practical idea鈥憇haring through structured small鈥� and large鈥慻roup dialogue.

4:00-5:00 p.m.	Emerging Solutions Beyond the Treadmill: Creating Space for Strategic Leadership in Complex Times Mission-driven leaders spend too much time responding to immediate demands rather than engaging in strategic, transformational work. Drawing on the concept of the “leadership treadmill,” Dr. Melanie Ho explores the internal patterns, boundary challenges, and systemic conditions that keep even experienced leaders operating reactively rather than strategically. Participants will examine practical frameworks for diagnosing how time and energy are allocated, distinguishing work in the organization from work on the organization and identifying personal “boundary saboteurs” that undermine strategic focus. Through concrete strategies and reflective dialogue, this session offers actionable approaches for protecting space for strategic leadership while acknowledging the real constraints and complexity of today’s academic and health system environments. Driving Impact Through Financial Leadership: Stewarding and Advancing the Dean’s Budget In an increasingly complex financial environment, nursing deans must lead not only with vision but with strong financial acumen. A panel of experienced deans will share practical insights on owning the budget, influencing institutional financial decisions, and generating diversified revenue to advance the school’s mission. Panelists will discuss strategies for aligning budget management with advancement priorities, enrollment realities, and long-term sustainability. Participants will leave with actionable perspectives to strengthen financial leadership and navigate budgetary responsibility.

Graduates of 糖心少女vlog’s Advancing Academic Leadership for New Deans program will present their final projects, which focus on addressing challenges and opportunities of interest to new and experienced deans. Come for the conversation, the inspiration, and a lively exchange of ideas. Deans of Minority Serving Nursing Schools Dialogue This session explores opportunities and challenges of Deans of nursing schools with high enrollment of students of color. Strengthening Academic–Practice Partnerships: From Shared Vision to Action This session highlights the collaboration between the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (糖心少女vlog) and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) and the development of the 糖心少女vlog/AONL Academic–Practice Partnership Playbook. Participants will gain an overview of the Playbook’s purpose, structure, and guiding principles, along with real-world case models that illustrate diverse partnership approaches, including shared leadership, clinical education, and financial alignment. The session will conclude with a dean’s perspective on applying the Playbook in collaboration with a practice partner, offering practical insights into how intentional partnerships can strengthen alignment, support healthy work environments, and advance outcomes across education and practice.
