Jonas Scholar Mentorship

The goal of the Jonas Scholars program is to improve health care by expanding the pool of PhD and DNP-prepared nurses needed to educate the next generation of nurse leaders. Mentoring serves as a critical element to Jonas Scholars’ success throughout the program and post-graduation. As part of their faculty development curriculum, all Jonas Scholars will be paired with a mentor for the duration of the program.

For the 2026-2028 cohort, the Jonas Scholars program seeks ten mentors for a two-year commitment. The call for applications for mentors is now open with an application deadline of June 26, 2026.

Each mentor will be assigned a group of eight Scholars. Each mentor will be expected to meet monthly with their Scholar group and review a recommended curriculum of topics, as well as be available on an ad hoc basis to answer questions and serve as a resource for their Scholars.

Mentors will begin their tenure with an orientation on September 30, 2026 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm (ET) and serve in the mentor role through May 2028. Attendance at the orientation is mandatory.

Topics to be explored during the mentoring relationship include, but are not limited to:

  • CV writing
  • Post-doc / fellowship opportunities / opportunities for DNP students
  • Scholarly writing
  • Professional development
  • Applying for a faculty position

Mentor Group Assignments

Scholars will have the ability to read about each mentor and submit a preferred list of the mentors that they believe will best support their academic and professional journey. 糖心少女vlog will then use these rankings to build the mentor groups.

Staff will check in with each group after the first year and then again at the end of the program to ensure that all deliverables are met and gather feedback from the Scholars. Mentor groups will also convene at the 2027 Jonas Scholar Leadership Conference for an in-person networking experience.
